Peace :)

peace

An underlying theme that has been coming to me frequently as of late is what it is to have, and maintain inner peace.

One avenue by which this message was carried to me was my trip in beginning of this month to the Essence Festival in New Orleans . I found out that Deepak Chopra would be conducting a workshop and automatically put it on the top of my to-do list while there. On that Saturday morning my girlfriends and I went to the workshop and I sat at the edge of my seat bright eyed and bushy tailed as he discussed the health benefits of meditation among other things (there’s literally a picture of me that my friend *accurately* describes my expression as “joy filled”.)  Along with him on that panel was a beautiful lady whom I was not familiar with by the name of Erica Ford.  Erica runs an organization called Peace is a LIFEstyle in which she teaches young urban kids (who would generally not be exposed to) skills such as meditation and yoga.(check out the website here http://peaceisalifestyle.com/) From that conversation I fell in love with her work but also the message itself: “Peace is a lifestyle” I have really been taking the time to explore and understand just what that means to me.

One of my new core beliefs is in well being.  To me, this means that all is truly well even at times that things aren’t going in the direction I was planning.  This belief has  helped reduce stress and negative emotions in my day to day life immensely!! It has effortlessly tied itself into my exploration of inner peace because it turns out they are the same thing explained in different ways!!

Our spirits have a baseline of well being (peace.)  All of our thoughts and emotions serve to maintain or agitate that peace. What I’ve been playing with more specifically is noticing the thoughts that cause agitation.  I am now able to recognize negative emotion (stress, anger, etc.) as a way of spirit communication. Negative emotions serve to let me know my perspective on a subject is not that of my spirit. In bringing these thoughts and emotions to light they are able to be dissolved and my peace is restored (I believe Eckhart spoke about that in The Power of Now actually but the resonance of it didn’t occur until now.)

To further reiterate this point was my opportunity to spend time with some of my older family members on a trip to North Carolina,  I figured it would be a good idea to capitalize on their wisdom; not only did it serve to build a stronger family bond between us but the knowledge they imparted was definitely food for the spirit. ❤  One of the issue I wanted more clarity on was how to deal with being an African American in the United States.  Without going into a rant (because now I see how it compromises said peace) I will say I don’t agree with the history of mistreat and current mistreat of my people by this country. As I began to express these feelings to my great-aunts and grandpa one of my aunts stopped me  mid-rant by pointing out the quality of the energy I was putting out surrounding the subject.  She could see, hear and feel my emotional frustration and offered me this: Do not allow these things to contaminate your spirit.  They discussed this referencing the Bible and for the first time there was deep resonance in what Jesus was talking about when stating that you should turn the other cheek.

Where as before I believed turning the other cheek meant being okay with being mistreated I could now see the truth behind the action.  Turning the other cheek isn’t rolling over and accepting mistreatment it’s the ability to not let things compromise your inner peace!!! When you are able to view those actions from a place of stillness you open yourself up to true and clear guidance as to how you should handle the situation.

The last bit of resonance I received on this subject is in the book I am currently reading.  Anatomy of Spirit: The Seven Stages of Power and Healing by Caroline Myss.  She explores our energy body and the resulting affects our emotions have on our physical body.  To say I’m enjoying it would be an understatement. It further drives home the point that maintaining peace is not only detrimental to our spirit body but our physical body as well, it gives motivation for me to work to dissolve thought patterns that do not serve me. I am learning to truly observe the quality of my thoughts.  I am striving to maintain high quality thoughts and peace in my daily life. I’m thankful for my growth and understanding.

Peace everyone ❤ ❤ ❤

Lesson 7–A course in Miracles

I see only the past.”

When I first read this lesson how I interpreted it was that our past experiences give us reference to the present moment so when you are looking at something you aren’t just looking at that specific thing you are looking at the culmination of all interactions you’ve ever had with that thing.

“I see only the past in this shoe” (etc…)

When you look at a shoe you are able to recognize it for what it is based on experience.  This experience is also known as the past. As the example if you had no reference point to what a shoe was you’d not know the meaning of the word let alone the function of it. I often think of babies as a great example of this, if you give a baby a shoe they may play with it, put it in their mouth but not think to put it on their little foot.

This lesson came back to me today in relation to my efforts to work on staying present. (Stay with me because this is going to seem random initially but it really illustrates the point of this lesson to me) I was putting some shea butter in my hair so I look at the jar then proceed to think about how I used it on my hair before vacation.  This thought turned into thinking about how vacation was so amazing and all the things that took place.  I had left the present  so easily looking at this object because I was looking at it in terms of the past!!!

I managed to bring myself back into the present and when I did the deeper understanding of this lesson came with me.

I love when thing tie in on that spiritual level. 😀 There are so many ways for us to say things but ultimately we are all saying the same thing.

The Power of Now and Pain Bodies

I’ve really been enjoying The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle.  As previously discussed this book brings to light how much of my time I have habitually spent outside of the present. It is something that comes so “naturally” to us that we don’t even realize that we do it.  We cannot change something that has happened in the past nor can we determine exactly how the events of our future will unfold, yet we spend so much of our time in those places!?

After this realization I’ve started to look at it as a fun sort of activity where I try to catch myself mentally wandering, it’s always refreshing to come back to “here” when I do.

“Here” is actually pretty awesome 🙂

The other spiritual expansion I have had with relation to this book is learning about what Eckhart refers to as Pain Bodies, here is his explanation of it.

In the book he states “This accumulated pain is a negative energy field that occupies your body and mind.  If you look on it as an invisible entity in its own right, you are getting quite close to the truth”  To me, it was like he was finding another way to describe what some would view as the devil.  It made so much sense on both levels because essentially they are both saying this is something that is not truly OF YOU.

It is not of you because you are of God. 🙂

All negative emotions and pretty much anything you would consider of low vibration are not of the goodness you are truly made of.  As part of our decision to work on spiritual development/growth we have to be able to recognize these negative aspects to transmute getting “carried away” by them.  We also have to understand they are not a part of our true character nor nature.

We are not negative beings.  It’s a BEAUTIFUL THING actually.

He directs us further by saying “Watch out for any sign of unhappiness in yourself, in whatever form–it may be an awakening pain-body.  This can take form of irritation, impatience, a somber mood, a desire to hurt, anger, rage, depression, a need to have some drama in your relationship and so on.  Catch it the moment it awakens from it’s dormant state.”

I promise you when you are able to catch it before it even gets going it begins to amaze you how quickly you are able to dissolve something with the potential to emotionally exhaust you!!! (I can’t even tell you how much this has helped with me avoiding getting into arguments or becoming impatient when waiting on a long line.)

And so…Thank you Eckhart Tolle for expanding my soul just that much more 😀

Now Reading!!

What can I say really, reading is one of the biggest ways I spiritually expand, grow and learn.  Every book offers what I would say is spiritual resonance, I am able to connect on what feels like the purest level of my soul, when I read some things I KNOW them to be true, they become more than a concept or something that sounds good in theory.

It is a beautiful thing I am highly thankful for.

Thanks James Redfield!

I have recently completed reading The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield. Simply put I loved it and would of course recommend people check it out.

As a result of reading this book I was able to appreciate at the core of my being a bigger picture.  I was able to understand truly why I love and enjoy reading so much. Every single book I read finds a way to expand me in a direction I was not able to see prior to it.  Every book I dig into and explore (by way of reading in combination with my practice of meditation) drives me deeper into my spiritual development.

I no longer believe in coincidences so I know that it is solely by cosmic design (God if you will) that I am always lead to exactly what I need at the precise time I need it in order to further expand myself.  This further encourages me to want to write; if for not solely for the gratitude of this amazing soul experience of my own but in hopes that I am able to help someone expand  in their own spiritual experience. I sincerely enjoy being able to point someone in the right direction for their own spiritual development ❤

The book goes about explaining nine insights of spiritual development by way of a fictional adventure.

I believe spirit science did a very good job of explaining the insights you can check it out below

Related to reading The Celestine Prophecy I really wanted to touch on the 4 Control Dramas.  The comprehension of the way people relate to each other in competition of acquiring energy caused me to look at my own control drama as well as my parents.  It further caused me to understand exactly why my spiritual being came into physical existence through my specific parents.  Mind blowing is an understatement for this realization.  in the link below James Redfield explains control dramas and energy relations 🙂

much love!

For the conscious/spiritual developing bookworm :D

I love to read!!!! For me, reading expands and grows me, it validates things I may second guess in my own thoughts and it’s just overall something I have enjoyed since I was a child 🙂

If reading is your thing I’d highly recommend the following books:

Although I already mentioned it Ask and It Is Given by Abraham-Hicks (Jerry and Esther Hicks) literally busted my mind open. It started me on this amazing journey that is getting to know myself and God first hand

A Course in Miracles by The Foundation for Inner Peace.  I’m still working through this one.  I’ve found that in my specific path I don’t feel the need to read it cover to cover, I do however enjoy the lessons it teaches (you are supposed to study one lesson each day) and the teaching manual

The Finding of the Third Eye by Vera Stanley Adler.  This I found amazing because it was originally published in 1938 but is very much so applicable and relevant to today. As a result of reading this book I was skyrocketed in a million different directions!! It lead me to read The Egyptian Book of the Dead as well as The Tibetian Book of the DeadThe Teachings of Ptahhotep, The twelve labours of Hercules. and a very insightful article on Pelmanism which all helped in my expansion 🙂

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz.  Another book that gave me growth and made me just that much better.  The subtitle of the book is “A practical guide to personal freedom” It’s not lying lol

Astral Projection and the Nature of Reality by John Magnus.  This one all I can really say is once you begin to really expand you may find you want to get your feet wet in all the cool abilities of your mind.  It’s a book about out of body experiences, learning how to have them and what to do when you do.

A Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. This I read with one of my best friends because we have a “book club” it came at the perfect time for me and I was able to take just what  I needed at that moment.

The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield.  I am definitely enjoying this read.  Although technically it’s a fictional story it doesn’t take away from the very real spiritual/consciousness development stages.

As for the following books, they may on the surface seem to be only for entertainment at which point you may discard the value they may have on one’s spiritual development but one thing I have learned is insight can be found in all things and all people. In The Teachings of Ptahhotep, he states “Good speech is more hidden than greenstone (emeralds), yet it may be found among maids at the grindstones.” What I took from that was never discount someone’s ability to impart valuable wisdom to you based on their appearance or standings.  God moves and speaks through all of us which includes those we categorize as people who create things on a superficial level (i.e. for entertainment purposes)

THe Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay by Susanne Collins

Divergent , Insurgent and Allegiant by Veronia Roth

Allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll of the Harry Potter Books!!!! Those books are about Love!!!!! It’s really beautiful when you are able to actually see it 🙂

and when you’re tired of reading there’s always writing your own books!!! I’d totally recommend journaling as part of your spiritual development. It’s actually how this blog ever even started!! 😉

Have a great day my lovelies!!

Amazzzzzzzing Book!

I have to take a moment to give much gratitude and love to Abraham 🙂 I was lead to the book Ask and it is Given and the impact it had on my awakening conscious and spiritual develop is beyond words!! I’ve learned so much and have really hit the pavement running as a result of reading this book.
